The conference of the Estonian Association of Masters in Conference Interpreting and Translation Working Together was held in the National Library of Estonia in Tallinn on 30 September. More than a hundred people attended the conference and they included translators, interpreters, editors and also students.

The amendments to the Notary Fees Act that entered force on 8 June 2009 stipulate multiple fee increases for copy and signature notarisation. For example, the fee for notarising a translator’s signature is now 200 EEK + VAT.
When you submit a document for translation which needs to be notarised, please be sure to mention that you need a notarised copy. If a notarised copy is not needed, we can add a simple copy to the translation that costs 3 EEK + VAT per page, while a notarised copy costs 50 EEK + VAT per page.

More and more companies are turning their gaze towards the Chinese and Japanese markets. Luisa is one of them and is now offering translation services for these ancient Oriental languages.

Luisa Translating Bureau's Tartu office made the move on 17 December to brand new, more extensive premises at Lai 11/13.

The idea of seeking ISO certification took on greater importance about a year ago. Everything stemmed from three main points: the interests of foreign clients; the question of reputation; and the development of an Estonian-language translation standard on the basis of the European translation standard.

A conference of the Estonian Association of Masters in Conference Interpreting and Translation was held this autumn at which Marja Vaba, the manager of the Tallinn office of Luisa Translating Bureau, gave a presentation on the work of translation bureaus.

Luisa Translating Bureau’s Tallinn office manager Marja Vaba gave a presentation entitled “The role of the client and the translation team in ensuring the quality of a translation” at the Estonian Association of Masters in Conference Interpreting and Translation (ETML) seminar day held at the National Library on 1 October for Master’s students, translation agencies and all those interested in the field.

An analysis performed by Krediidiinfo has seen Luisa Translating Bureau achieve a 'successful Estonian company' AA rating (very good) on the basis of its financial results for 2006. A certificate to this effect was issued in September 2007.

On the 16th of June we celebrated Luisa's 15th anniversary at Maardu manor.

From this year the Ministry of Education and Research has introduced the Language Work of the Year award, whose aim is to raise the importance of the Estonian language.
